Foudoulis
Conservatory was founded in Volos in 1991 by Yorgos Foudoulis. It offers
a full range of music studies in Guitar, Strings, Piano, Keyboards,
Woodwind, Brass, Voice, Advanced Theory of music and Composition,
Byzantine Music, Traditional and Folk music and Contemporary music
classes.
Through music courses both students and teachers act jointly in
ensembles exchanging experiences and becoming familiar with what musical
expression, action and artistic creation mean. Communicating this way, a
lot of significant ensembles were born, with an extensive artistic
precence. The Experimental Chorus, the Women's chorus, the Children's
Choir, the String Orchestra, the Jazz Quartet, the Guitarist's Orchestra,
the Greek Music Orchestra and the chamber music ensembles are some of
them.
The Conservatory provides a Library which students may consult or borrow
scores and books from, a Record Library equiped with over 1000
recordings to assist a more substantial approach to the music philosophy
of all ages and a Concert Hall which accommodates recitals and lectures
on a daily basis.
The Conservatory has an equally significant publishing activity to
demonstrate as well, based on the educational work of our teachers and
the cultural magazine "Analogio" wich refers to the Conservatory's
activities as well as to other outstanding cultural events in Greece and
abroad.
In the few years of its existance the Conservatory's events division has
managed to create institutions of both international and local consent
and more than a thousand artists from all over the world have
participated so far in the Music and Fine Arts Festival, the artistic
event "Terpsihori", the Week of Music Technology, the European Day of
Music, the Multiple Events Festival (music, dance, theatre, finec arts)
at Melina of Pelion and the International Winter Guitar Festival.
